Day 17 - Monday September 15

We woke up that Monday morning to the low hum and rattle of the ferry boat. The cabin was so dark that we did not wake up until 11am. And we would have probably kept sleeping had I not gotten up to go to the bathroom. I was upset because we missed breakfast. I wanted bacon and eggs or something yummy like that! Sleeping late helped the time pass though. Only 5 hours to go! We spent a little time wandering around since lunch was not for another hour. For lunch, Thierry had roast beef with potatoes and I had hamburger something rather, with potatoes and peas. We also had a cucumber tomato salad and tzatziki sauce. Major, major garlic breath!!! I mean MAJOR!!! After spending some time on deck, we went back to the cabin where we were rudely kicked out an hour before docking. Rather unexpected! Returned the key but still no passports! Five to ten minutes before docking, the customs official started stamping the pile of passports. Of course locals first! It was so dumb, he did not even look at them when stamping them. He could have stamped them years ago and it would not have made any difference. Off the ferry finally and on to the mainland where we found the bus to Pyrgos or Nyptoe as Thierry would call it. Busy bus but efficient. We tried to make friends with the conductor but that proved difficult despite his friendly nature. The language barrier was too difficult to cross since he did not speak English and our Greek was rather sloppy. We transferred at Pyrgos for Olympia on a local bus for about 40 minutes. Some local kids gave us a taste of a Greek yelling match.
